The Gallery (or Studio Control Room,) is used whenever the studio is in use for “Live to Tape” productions. If you are working on a production that requires multiple cameras, but you want to be able to edit those cameras separately - DO NOT USE THE GALLERY.
If you are working on a production that requires multiple cameras, and you want the least amount of editing to deal with once done with your recording, then you are on the right page.
The two panel light switch at the back of the rack, to the right of the window into the studio, is the Master Power Switch for the Gallery.
The Helo allows for recording to SD Chip (upto 128 GB,) and streaming at the same time. It can be controlled both by a web interface, and by pressing the buttons on the front of the device.
The Audio board has many inputs, not all will be used in every production. Inputs 1-5 are matched to the inputs on the patch panel. Inputs 6 - 28, require cables to be run through the patch panel in order to connect them.
The Amplifier (sits on top of the desk, under the Air Check monitor) must be on in order for the talk-back function of the audio board to work.
This 1U unit is the master brain to the entire gallery. It is connected with the Audio Board inputs, Camera inputs, and the outputs to the monitors and AJA Helo.
The large television set on the desk is used by the Blackmagic Design ATEM unit, it is where the multiple monitor display is shown.
The Laptop and Monitor are connected, to allow for an extended desktop and ease of seeing all the buttons and choices on the software for the ATEM device.
So, you're ready to use the Gallery and come to find out that the Blackmagic Design Production Box (BMD) was recently used On-Location! meaning that the main control unit for the gallery is NOT connected to everything else
Don't fret. Here's how to connect the box to everything else:
Once everything is plugged in, then move on to turning everything on.
Procedure for turning the Gallery ON:
When you are done recording, press the RECORD button on the AJA Helo. The Lights should stop flashing. When the light next to the SD Chip is Solid Green, you can remove the chip. Plug the SD Chip into the SD Card reader next to the computer in the Gallery (Currently NLE 7 - Graphics/TD Position). Open the AJA folder and find the clip that is your recording, double-click on it to play the file.
Go in reverse as you did from Turning everything On.
